Saregama India Q4FY22 and Year Ended result : 17% growth in Carvaan sales, Income grew 40% to ₹199 Cr

Saregama India Ltd (SIL) (earlier known as The Gramophone Company of India) was incorporated in 1946 and was taken over by the RPG group in 1985 from EMI UK. SIL is into retail selling of audio cassettes and CDs. The company is having three subsidiaries RPG Global Music Ltd Saregama Films and Saregama Plc. The SIL is the most reputed audio entertainment company in Indian subcontinent.

It owns nearly 200000 tracks created over the last number of decades, and is estimated to own about 50% of the music ever recorded in India. It has been intimately associated with the development of Indian music from the time the first recording was made on Indian soil in 1903; the company also recorded the first song in an Indian film – Alam Ara in 1931.The company’s achievement covers twelve languages spread across eight musical categories- new Hindi films old Hindi films regional films ghazals devotional classical Indianpop & International, and it has posted its Q4FY22 and year ended financial results today, the details are as below :

(I) Audited Consolidated Financial Results for Quarter Ended (YoY comparison):

The company has reported, a consolidated Total Income of ₹199.08 crore in the quarter ended on March 31, 2022 as against ₹142.09 crore in the corresponding quarter ended last year on Mar 31, 2021, increased by 40.10%.

The company has posted a consolidated Net Profit of ₹48.21 crore in the quarter ended on March 31, 2022 as against ₹37.03 crore in the corresponding quarter ended in last year on Mar 31, 2021. The PAT surges up by 30.19%.

The status of the EPS of the company stood at ₹2.50 as on March 31, 2022 compared to the previous quarter ended on Mar 31, 2021 which was ₹2.12, up by 17.92%.

(II) Audited Consolidated Financial Result details for the Year Ended :

The company has reported, a consolidated Total Income of ₹615.54 crore in the financial year ended on March 31, 2022 as against ₹472.82 crore for the financial year ended on Mar 31, 2021, increased by 30.18%.

The company has posted a consolidated Net Profit of ₹152.60 crore in the financial year ended on March 31, 2022 as against ₹112.55 crore for the financial year ended on March 31, 2021. The PAT surges up by 33.58%.

The status of the EPS of the company stood at ₹8.42 as on March 31, 2022 compared to the previous year ended on March 31, 2021 which was ₹6.50, up by 29.53%.

(III) Key Highlights about the Performance :

  • Company’s Operating Income before Content Charge, Interest and Depreciation (OIBCID) rose 54% to ₹2229 Mn in FY22 from Rs.1451 Mn in FY21.
  • In FY22, Company registered 17% growth in Carvaan sales; 4.01 Lakhs units sold in FY22 as against 3.44 Lakhs units in FY21
  • In FY22 Films, Web Series and TV serials vertical crossed Rs.1000 Mn Revenue for the very first time. Company managed to deliver its first digital web series to a leading digital platform. Company also delivered two Marathi films.
  • During this quarter, Company has acquired over 1500+ music IP belonging to 280 Telugu films from Mango Music. Company launched music of two big films: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata. Both albums are super hits. Company released 135 films and non-films songs across Hindi, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali languages.
  • Large intellectual property portfolio of 142K+ songs, 64 films, 1 web-series, 6K+ hours of television content
  • Overall. 41 new film songs released during this quarter –12 Telugu, 9 Malayalam, 7 Tamil, 6 Hindi , 4 Bengali and 3 songs in Marathi
  • 94 new non film songs released this quarter. This includes 15 Hindi, 37 Bhojpuri, 26 Gujarati, 5 Bengali songs, 3 Tamil, 2 Punjabi
  • Indian Music Industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15%, ample of potentials for the company to explore
